Lately
we’ve all been hearing a lot about the Jenny Craig diet plan.
The new spokeswoman for Jenny Craig, Kirstie Alley, fought her weight
loss battle with the whole nation watching. But just how effective is
Jenny Craig? Like many diet plans, you have to become a member, which
involves paying an initial membership fee, plus monthly dues, and even
buying food and meal plans from them, if this is what the plan
includes. Not all of us have that type of expendable cash;
there’s always good old-fashioned diet and exercise.
So I did some checking on just what Jenny Craig has to offer. This
program claims that it allows you to personalize the program to fit
your lifestyle, not personalize your life to fit the program. This is
good, but you still have to have motivation and be able to choose
healthier foods, as well as increase your physical activity. Some of
the benefits the online Jenny Craig has to offer, is access to meal
planning and hundreds of healthy low-fat low-carb meals just for
signing up for a free account. If you don’t have time to cook
and have extra money to spend, you can purchase a complete meal
sampler, available with or without meat, for $21.99, which includes
snacks, the main course, a handbook, menu planner, discount coupons,
and a Jenny Craig lunch bag. You can also purchase Jenny Craig
cookbooks, and exercise related materials, such as audio and video work
out tapes among other items. There is also a section on the website
where you can sign up for a free consultation, just put in your contact
information and a Jenny Craig representative will call.
As with any diet and fitness program, it helps if you have support,
like a diet buddy, because sometimes you just can’t do it
alone. It’s true that if you workout with a friend and
compare notes throughout your program, you are more likely to reach
your weight loss goal successfully in a shorter period of time than if
you had tried on your own. Not that you can’t do it alone,
but there is a lot of temptation out there and it’s hard to
keep saying “no”. Your family may be tempting you
with dining out, and then there are those cooks at the office that just
have to bring in their latest creation to share with everyone, because
they know that if they left it at home, they would eat it all. It can
be hard to turn your head and look the other way all the time.
Maybe you can join Jenny Craig with a friend or family member? It seems
to be a healthy alternative to some of the diet plans out there.
There’s online support as well, and an online tracking system
so you can see your progress. Go ahead, call Jenny.
